Riteve is also the name of a town in Lithuania. In An African Trading Empire by Hugh Macmillan (I.B. Tauris), it is noted that in 1882 Riteve was one of the first towns in Lithuania to be connected to the outside world by telephone and in 1892 was the first town in the region to have electric street lighting.
